35 years after the ensemble played its first concert, Calefax celebrates its birthday with masterpieces by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Bach’s music plays a major role in Calefax’ projects, both the works he has written himself and pieces by other composers that were inspired by him. By dividing the music among five reed players, his piano works in particular gain richness in sound. Calefax plays repertoire from their new anniversary album Bach’s Musical Offerings. A sixth player, hoboïst Arthur Klaassens, is added in Musikalisches Opfer.
