Johan de Meij, an international celebrity in the world of the symphonic wind orchestra, is currently one of the most performed Dutch composers. Calefax will perform as soloists in a grand composition de Meij has written for reed quintet and wind orchestra. Un Momento Dado will be performed in Rhenen (NL) in November and in Barcelona (ES) in December.
Calefax invites composers of all ages and nationalities to participate in the 16th annual Composers Competition for Reed Quintet. The winner will be awarded a prize of € 2,500,- and their piece will be performed by various outstanding reed quintets from all over the world.
From 8 October untill 19 November, Calefax performs the family concert The Music Factory. The five Calefax men work in a pipe factory. Every day they do the same and that suits them fine. So there is great panic when one day the orders stop coming in...
Calefax tours six to eight concertprogrammes per season in the Netherlands and tours abroad to a.o. the USA, China, Japan, UK, Eastern-Europe and Germany.
