Menu de Saison combines the quality of the familiar Calefax programs with a link to current events. Just as a chef in a modern restaurant likes to spoil his guests with home-grown products, Menu de Saison offers Calefax the opportunity to surprise with newly developed repertoire.
A musical arrangement in which the musicians play works from their new album Organisms which will be released in November 2025. The album is a crash course in the finest organ music from the Baroque to the 20th century, including works by J.S. Bach. For music connoisseurs, Calefax also offers lesser-known works in this programme, such as the new composition Link by Michel van der Aa, written in honor of Calefax’s 40th anniversary.
For this concert series, Calefax will be performing with two bass clarinetists. They are currently in the selection process for the succession of previous bass clarinettist Jelte Althuis, along with a third candidate. Calefax will use this period to get to know the candidates. Calefax will be performing the January and February concerts with bass clarinettist Salome Etter and the April concerts with Ettore Biagi.
