In the annual concert series Welcome to Calefax-land, Calefax invites Dutch celebrities on stage. Someone who isn’t a musician but has a passion for music. This person is more than just a guest: they create the concert programme together with Calefax and host the evening.
Milouska Meulens gives us a musical insight into her life. Many relocations bring with them the richness of different cultures and customs, but also the feeling of being uprooted. The reed quintet Calefax and singer Juliana Martina perform music that reflects her personal journey from Willemstad to Almere and from Ureterp to Amsterdam. Milouska Meulens in Calefax-land is an evening of music and stories where we discover different times and styles. From the beautiful Tumba of the famous Curaçao composer Wim Statius Muller to Atardi, the unofficial national anthem of Curaçao, and Stevie Wonder’s Overjoyed.
