In the annual concert series Welcome to Calefax-land (Dutch spoken), Calefax invites Dutch celebrities on stage. Someone who isn’t a musician, but has a passion for music. This person is more than just a guest: they create the concert programme together with Calefax and host the evening. The guest of this second edition is Paulien Cornelisse, one of the most creative and original Dutch minds.
Cornelisse is a writer, works in theatre and television and makes podcasts. Her work reveals a love for music as well. Cornelisse: “I want to delve into the overlap between language and music with Calefax. Would it be possible to talk with a woodwind instrument? Throughout the centuries, many composers tried to capture sounds of nature and human beings in music. We will listen to those examples. But we will approach it from another angle as well: when does language become music?”
