Calefax has a huge passion for music in general and the reed quintet in particular. In addition to playing concert programmes, Calefax is always open to sharing this passion with other people through workshops and masterclasses (for youngsters and adults) and custom-made programmes for children, musicians and companies.
Calefax developed different concertprogrammes especially for children in collaboration with Oorkaan and The Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
Calefax shares his passion for the reed quintet through workshops and masterclasses alle over the world. Since 2017 Calefax offers a master specialisation Reed Quintet together with The Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.

Since 2008, Calefax organizes the Calefax Composers Competition, an annual contest for composers who write especially for the reed quintet.
