“Hear the love fire tangled in the reed notes, as bewilderment melts into wine.
The reed is a friend to all who want the fabric torn and drawn away.”
– Rumi
Calefax broadens its horizon by working with the well-known Persian singer Mohammad Motamedi. This encounter opens doors to the rich Persian music culture, with traditional Iranian percussion and ney (a kind or reed flute). We create new dialogues between Persian and western music. In Sufism, an inexhaustible source for classical song lyrics, we find the wisdom and mysticism of Persia. In line with the music, we present this mysticism in our own way with scenographer Theun Mosk.
Song of the Reed is a musical journey for all senses.
