who almost made the reed quintet seem the best musical format on the planet. - The TimesMore about Calefax
Calefax paints a musical portrait of Europe in the ‘10s, ‘20s and ‘30s in this concert programme. The beginning of the twentieth century was subject to many major and rapid changes, like political shifts, the First World War and a pandamic. How did a composer uphold oneself in these turbulent times?
Calefax invites composers of all ages and nationalities to participate in the 15th annual Composers Competition for Reed Quintet. We celebrate this anniversary edition by raising the prize money for this year’s competition to €5,000.
Calefax provides masterclasses and a concert from 27 untill 29 November at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore. The concert is free of charge.
Calefax tours six to eight concertprogrammes per season in the Netherlands and tours abroad to a.o. the USA, China, Japan, UK, Eastern-Europe and Germany.
