Menu de Saison combines the quality of the familiar Calefax programs with a link to current events. Calefax presents a musical arrangement in which the musicians play works from their new album Organisms and LINK, a new work by Michel van der Aa written in honor of Calefax's 40th anniversary.
Actor Ramsey Nasr is no longer just a music lover: Ramsey is addicted. Calefax and Ramsey take the audience on a journey from the bizarre Middle Ages, through moving Italian folk music, to the polyphony of the Renaissance, which has captured Ramsey's imagination. An evening full of Solage, Johannes Ockeghem, Helen Hopekirk, Nina Simone, Umm Kulthum, Dmitri Shostakovich and new work by Joey Roukens. And maybe Ramsey himself will hum a tune.
